Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the provision of clinical services in support of patient care for Tri-City Medical Center.  This individual will assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of care and/or programs and ensure their financial viability.  The Director is responsible for ensuring that twenty-four hour accountability for the delivery of quality services and operational management of assigned area(s) is consistently provided.  The job encompasses integration, facilitation and coordination of the leadership, management, operational, and clinical activities of services.  This individual serves as professional role model, leader, mentor and clinical resource to the health care team.  This individual serves as a liaison between the MSO and all other areas of the Medical Center that provides medical staff support. It is essential that this person collaborates and develops a relational connection with Administration, other leaders in the Medical Center and the Physicians.   The individual must consistently support the mission and values of the Medical Center.


Major Position Responsibilities:

  • This role is responsible for supervisory and administrative work in directing and coordinating the Medical Staff Support. Work includes responsibility for coordination of all operational aspects of the office, including organizing, and conducting programs required for establishing procedures for medical staff functions.
  • Provides operational, financial, and quality oversight for Medical Staff services inclusive of credentialing, maintenance of medical fair hearing plan staff privileging, and physician twenty-four hour availability via the call schedule.
  • Innovates to streamline medical staff workflows, and is service-oriented to enhance the reputation of the medical staff organization as a conduit to the physician and allied health community.
  • Maintains systems to identify (and disseminate to others) medical staff members and their clinical privileges, prepares and maintains other related records and reports in accordance with established policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Collaborates with Chief of Staff and other Physician leaders to coordinate medical staff operational effectiveness via meeting structure and communication, educational offerings, and quality effectiveness.
  • Provides oversight for the effective management of the Institutional Review Board programs at Tri-City Medical Center.


  • At least five years of leadership experience in a Medical Staff Office, required.
  • At least ten years experience in a hospital setting, required.
  • Possesses mastery of medical staff credentialing, peer review, OPPE/FPPE, quality programs, regulatory compliance, medical staff committees, bylaws, and physician fair hearing rights, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all staff to facilitate alignment between hospital and medical staff, required.
  • Must be dependable, have integrity, initiative, tact, ability to work on details, ability to learn and possess a sense of values and ethical standards, required.
  • Experience with product line development preferred.
  • Leadership demonstration of openness to change thorough implementation of creative programs that support achievement of strategic initiatives, required.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of mastery of the fundamental leadership skills of planning, organizing, facilitating, coordinating, collaborating, execution and ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with all levels of the organization, required.
  • Must also have the ability to train and develop other personnel by providing them with the knowledge gained through years of experience on the job, required.
  • Possess knowledge of the business of health care along the continuum of care, clinical decision support data analysis/syntheses and quality improvement, regulatory and legislative issues, required.


  • Bachelor’s degree, required.
  • Master’s or JD from an accredited university, preferred.


  • CPCS certification, required.
  • CMSC certification, preferred.
