Position Summary:

Performs professional functions relating to providing appropriate drug information participating in all clinical programs, dispensing, and compounding of drugs.  Has responsibility for drug control within the pharmacy and distribution throughout the hospital. Assists in other areas as directed by the Director of Pharmacy.  In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Manager, assumes responsibility for the operation of the Pharmacy.

 

Major Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Provides appropriate drug information for all clinical programs.
  • Compound and dispense drugs according to policy.
  • Responsible for drug control and distribution throughout the hospital.
  • Assumes responsibility for the operation of the hospital pharmacy.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have current knowledge of drugs, their actions, availability, and I.V. incompatibility, required.
  • Maintains a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education per license period (2 years), required.
  • Be professionally competent in all phases of pharmaceutical care, required.
  • One (1) year acute care hospital experience, required.
  • Experience with controlled substances, preferred.
  • Oncology experience, preferred (OP Infusion Oncology department only)

Education:

  • Pharm D or PhD, preferred.
  • PGY1, preferred.

Licenses:

  • Current license by the California State Board of Pharmacy, required.

Certification:

  • ACLS or PhART (Pharmacy Advanced Resuscitation Training), required certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

 

Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work. 

 

*Salary/Hourly wage range for this position is posted.  Actual pay will be determined based on verified experience as well as internal equity.
