Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the Facility Door Technician is responsible for performing duties associated with furnishing, installing and servicing automatic and manual door systems and components.

 

Major Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Maintenance and Repair:
    • Maintain and repair various door and locking system hardware and equipment independently.
    • Troubleshoot and repair issues with keyed and electronic combo locking systems.
    • Repair non-operating systems using hand tools, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
    • Repair door frames and units using cutting tools and hand tools.
    • Make various types of keys.
  • Installation and Servicing:
    • Install, service, and repair automatic door opening and closing mechanisms.
    • Install and repair systems operated by electronic-eye mechanisms.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks at the hospital.
    • Maintain and organize equipment technical manuals.
  • Equipment and Inventory Management:
    • Order necessary equipment parts in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
    • Manage the computer-based key tracking system.
  • Coordination and Support:
    • Coordinate with outside contractors to assist hospital personnel as needed.
    • Assist with daily shop needs.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all established codes and standards.
    • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure job sites are clean and debris-free at the end of the day.
  • Handle other maintenance orders related to the facility. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role, required; preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting .
  • Experience working with automatic doors, electronic locking systems, and related hardware.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, cutting tools, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly with keyed and electronic combo locking systems.
  • Proficient use of computers and familiarity with computer-based key tracking systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and software for troubleshooting electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of safety codes and standards related to door and locking systems.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to cut keys using a manual key cutter and ability to re-key locks (Russ Corbin 77 – 6 pin keyway system).
  • Ability to perform minor carpentry-cutting holes for new locks on wood doors.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift 100lbs, required.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.

Licenses:

  • Valid California Driver’s License, required.
  • Locksmith Registration with the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, preferred.
