Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director/Manager, responsible for overseeing and assuring the cleaning maintenance of the medical center.  Directly responsible for the front-line supervision of personnel (EVS workers) concerned with the sanitary maintenance of the hospital environment. 

  

Major Position Responsibilities:

The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner.   • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Coordinates and schedules EVS worker shifts. 
  • Responsible for Kronos time-keeping approval and processing of all assigned EVS workers.
  • Attends intradepartmental meetings to develop strategies to insure appropriate level of service to all departments.
  • Performs performance evaluation and documentation of all assigned EVS workers.
  • Conducts interviews and makes hiring recommendations to the Manager.  Assist with the development and implementation of department training.
  • Maintains department manual and cleaning standard checklists. 
  • Responds to all departmental inquiries regarding level of service.
  • Responsible for all front-line supervision.
  • Mentors EVS Leads to elevate their level of knowledge of TCMC AP&P’s
  • Monitors work activity to identify and recommend improvements to the Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Verbal ability to direct work activities and to utilize hospital and dietetic terminology.  A preference for contacts with people to communicate ideas, to instruct patients and/or their relatives regarding cleaning and control of the environment, direct personnel and  their activities and to solve related problems.   Ability to forecast and plan work schedules and special projects.  Ability to manage staff, conducts on –the-job training, and confers with associates.
  • Familiar with administrative and technical aspects of environmental services. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in supervisory position in hospital environmental services. May consider Lead experience from Tri-City Medical Center or acute care hospital.

 Education: 

  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • College courses preferred.

 

Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work.

 

*Salary/Hourly Wage range based on experience.
