Position Summary:

This position serves as a liaison between Tri-City Medical Center, patients, physicians, and the community. Provides assistance and resolution to patients regarding lost property, complaints and service recovery. Facilitates the release of deceased patients and follow county process for deceased patient data.

 

Major Position Responsibilities:

The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner.   • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Provides efficient and effective support for healthcare providers, patients and their families, serving as a liaison between hospital patients, visitors, hospital professionals and physicians.
  • Serves as primary contact for patients and caregivers regarding lost property; take report, attempt to locate and resolve per hospital policy.
  • Facilitate the release for deceased patients following hospital policy and procedure. Communicating with family or designee regarding mortuary arrangements. Working with doctors, coroners and the state to register deaths within the required reporting time-frame.
  • Enter data into computer or tracking systems.
  • Uses sound judgement and forwards risk and quality issues as appropriate.
  • Assists with training staff as requested to include decedent affairs, customer service and patient valuables and belongings.
  • Participates with the patient experience nursing initiatives and assists with service recovery.
  • Assists with administrative supervisor duties.
  • Ability to pronounce patients if requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in the acute patient care setting in a hospital or healthcare environment, required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, required.
  • Excellent customer service skills, empathy and problem solving, required.
  • Intermediate computer skills, required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
  • Possesses the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization, required.

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing.

Licenses:

  • Current California Registered Nurse license, required.

Certification:

  • Current BLS required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider. 
  • ACLS within 90 days of hire or transfer, required; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.
  • NVCI within 90 days of hire or transfer, required. 

 

 

Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work. 

 

*Salary/Hourly wage range for this position is posted.  Actual pay will be determined based on verified experience as well as internal equity.
