Overview

Position Summary:

 

The Group Therapist is responsible for conducting individual and group therapy, documenting patient progress in treatment and individual therapy or assessments as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor.

 

Major Position Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate two to three daily group treatment modalities within the scope of practice, as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, using approved curriculum and standard group facilitation techniques.
  • Provide individual therapy or assessments as requested by the Primary Therapist or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Document progress notes for groups and individual sessions in a timely manner as prescribed by program policies and procedures.
  • Monitor patient participation in Program and provide crisis management as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Clinical Coordinator.

Safety and Infection Control Responsibilities

  • Responsible to maintain a safe and clean work environment, including unit based specific safety and infection control requirements. 

Qualifications: ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, & EXPERIENCE

  • Group facilitation skills and experience required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of psychiatric diagnoses, terminology, psychopharmacology, and medical record documentation required.
  • At least one year of related clinical experience, preferably with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness preferred.

Education: 

  • Required: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling Psychology or Behavioral Science or related field (as verified through the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences).

Licenses:

  • Required: CA Board of Behavioral Sciences Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Marriage Family Therapist (MFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)

Certifications:

  • BLS required upon hire
  • NVCI within 90 days of hire or transfer, required.
