Overview

Position Summary:

 

Performs evaluations, develops and implements treatment plan for pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric populations with various diagnoses.  Maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in department expectations and professional organizations, including meeting productivity requirements, maintaining professional development, and maintaining continuing educational requirements in order to provide up-to-date assessment and treatment methods.  Provides education to patients, families, caregivers and other health professionals. Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population. May perform specialty duties indicated below. 

 

Major Position Responsibility (all areas):

  • Maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in department expectations and professional organizations, including meeting productivity requirements, maintaining professional development, and maintaining continuing educational requirements in order to provide up-to-date assessment and treatment methods. 
  • Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population.
  • Provides education to patients, families, caregivers and other health professionals.  Assists in the supervision of other staff members, students, and volunteers, as appropriate.

Adult Inpatient Occupational Therapist (specialty):

  • Performs evaluations, develops and implements treatment plan for adult, populations with various orthopedic and neurological diagnoses including Stroke, Heart Disease, COPD, Joint replacements, multiple trauma etc. 
  • Adult Inpatient Therapist requires a minimum of 6-8 weekend/ year work commitment.
  • Required Certifications/Licensure: Current OTR, Current CBOT Licensure.

NICU Occupational  Therapist (specialty):

  • Performs evaluations, develops and implements treatment plan for NICU infants with different diagnoses. May occasionally provide Occupational Therapy Services in the Adult Inpatient setting in the event of NICU Outpatient caseload fluctuations.
  • Prerequisite Clinical Experience: Five years clinical experience as a Registered Occupational Therapist with significant Pediatric/infant experience or a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant NICU clinical experience. On the job mentoring maybe considered on a case by case basis. 
  • Required Certifications/Training:  CBOT issued current Advanced Practice Approved in Swallowing Assessment, Evaluation or Intervention (SWC) or candidate should be in the process of obtaining it.

Pediatric Outpatient Occupational Therapist (specialty):

  • Performs evaluations, develops and implements treatment plan primarily for pediatric and adolescent, populations with various diagnoses.  May occasionally provide Occupational Therapy Services in the Inpatient setting in the event of Outpatient caseload fluctuations.

Outpatient Hand Therapist (specialty):

  • Performs evaluations, develops and implements treatment plan for pediatric, adolescent, adult and/geriatric populations with various Upper Extremity diagnoses such as  superficial and tendon lacerations, Trauma  including  UE fractures, distal radius fractures,  Joint Replacements, UE cumulative trauma injuries, digital replantation etc.  May occasionally provide Occupational Therapy Services in the Inpatient setting in the event of Outpatient caseload fluctuations.
  • Required Certifications: Current CHT or CHT Eligible (with CBOT Approved Advanced Practice in Hand therapy and Physical Agent Modalities). 

Neuro Outpatient  Therapist (specialty):

  • Performs evaluations, develops and implements treatment plan for, adult and/geriatric populations with various Neurological Diagnoses such as Stroke, Head injury, ALS, MS, Quadriplegia, Parkinson’s Disease.  May provide Occupational Therapy Services in the Inpatient setting acute or acute rehab in the event of Outpatient caseload fluctuations.
  • Required/Desired Certifications /Licensure: NDT or IFRA training, PAM's, Saebo, Vision therapy as it relates to neurological disorders.

 

Lymphedema  Therapist (specialty):

  • Performs evaluations, develops and implements treatment plan for, adult and/geriatric populations with referral due to lymphedema issues in one or more extremities.
  • Certifications/Licensure/Work Experience:  OTR/L and relevant work experience and continuing education in Lymphedema management a must, while specialty certification is desirable.

Safety and Infection Control Responsibilities:

 

Responsible to maintain a safe and clean work environment, including unit based specific safety and infection control requirements

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience, preferred (all areas unless otherwise noted under specialty area). 

Licenses:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by the California Board of Occupational Therapy required (all areas).

Certifications:

  • Current BCLS certification required (all areas).
  • See specialty area for additional certification requirements. 

Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work.
