  • Overview

    POSITION SUMMARY:

     

    The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who performs patient assessment, develops, implements and evaluates effectiveness of an interdisciplinary plan of care for patient populations with various diagnoses. Maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in department expectations and professional organizations. Provides education to patients, families, caregivers and other health professionals. Assists in the supervision of other staff members, students and volunteers, as appropriate. Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patients'/caregivers' rights, as identified within the institution. RN to fulfill multiple functions in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Circulates, handles meds, scrubs in with physicians and provides monitoring functions.

     

    Major Position Responsibilities:

    • Assists in the supervision of other staff members, students and volunteers, as appropriate.
    • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patients'/caregivers' rights, as identified within the institution 
     Safety and Infection Control Responsibilities
    • Responsible to maintain a safe and clean work environment, including unit based specific safety and infection control requirements. 

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Recent two (2) years of critical care experience in a setting such as ICU, ED, PACU required only if no previous experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) or Cardiac Cath Lab within the past 5 years.
    • Must be able to scrub and circulate in IR and/or Cath Lab procedure area.
    • Must be able to take call and able to do heavy lifting and pushing. Must be able to wear protective lead apron and thyroid shield.
    • Provide nursing support for non-invasive cardiology and radiology services.

    LICENSE:

    • Current California RN license, required.

    CERTIFICATION:

    • Current BLS certification, required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider. 
    • Current ACLS certification, required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.

    Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work.
