  • Overview

    Position Summary:

     

    This individual has the primary responsibility for providing occupational-related clinical services in the hospital clinic setting and at   local employer work-sites. This position also provides clinical support and oversight to the off-site clinic. Assists in the assessment, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of clinical services.  Assists in providing employers with evaluation of their medical surveillance needs, safety needs, and cost containment efforts through telephone calls and on-site visits.  Implements health promotion and safety programs as appropriate.  Develops and evaluates clinical policies and procedures, forms, and monitoring tools.  Assists in continuous quality improvement activities.  Functions professionally as an active member of a multidisciplinary team to coordinate efforts that maximize clinical and financial outcomes.  Works collaboratively with the Medical Director, Physicians, Health Care Professionals and employers to effectively manage the health care needs of Occupational Medicine clients.

     

    Major Position Responsibilities 

    • Responsible for providing occupational-related clinical services in the hospital clinic setting and at local employer work-sites.
    • Oversees the assessment, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of clinical services. 
    • Under the director of the Medical Director of Occupation Health Services, assesses the health status of clients by obtaining health histories, performing physical exams and providing post injury examinations.
    • Coordinate activities pertaining to pre-placement examinations.  Access and refer any client with health problems to applicable resources within or outside of the facility. 
    • Work in conjunction with the Infection Control Department regarding reporting, surveying, screening, and implementing programs pertaining to prevention or spread of infectious disease.   
    • Compile, prepare, and present monthly statistics and reports to executive management.  Attend meetings, discussions and workshops applicable to position responsibilities. 
    • Assists in providing employers with evaluation of their medical surveillance needs, safety needs, and cost containment efforts through telephone calls and on-site visits. 
    • Implements health promotion and safety programs as appropriate. 
    • Develops and evaluates clinical policies and procedures, forms, and monitoring tools. 
    • Responsible for continuously improving the quality of care and services provided. 
    • Coordinate efforts that maximize clinical and financial outcomes. 
    • Works collaboratively with the Medical Director, Physicians, Health Care Professionals and other Staff to efficiently and effectively provide clinical services. 
    •  Effectively manage the health care needs of Occupational Medicine clients. 

     

    Safety and Infection Control Responsibilities: 

    • Responsible to maintain a safe and clean work environment, including unit based specific safety and infection control requirements.

     

    Qualifications:  

    • Minimum of 1- 2 years experience in occupational medicine, emergency department and/or urgent care, required.
      • Knowledge of the California Workers’ Compensation system, required. 
      • Familiarity with OSHA, CAL-OSHA, State Labor standards and regulations preferred.
      • Knowledge of and able to use personal computers required.  Strongly prefer prior experience with SYSTOC or a computerized case management system for work-related injuries.
      • Excellent customer service and communication skills required.
      • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

     

    Education: 

    • Graduate of accredited school with as a Physician Assistant, required. 
    • Master’s Degree, preferred.

     

    Licenses:  

    • Current California Physician Assistant Licensure, required.
    • Current DEA Licensure, required.

     

    Certifications: 

    • Physician Assistant National Certification, required. 
    • Maintain current BLS certification, required.
