Position Summary:
An Advanced Care Technician, or ACT-Float work under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides basic patient care and comfort measures for assigned patients. These duties are not to exclude other duties that may be assigned. Provides care for infant (0-1 year of age), emergency pediatric (1-13 years of age), and adult (14 years of age and older) populations.

- Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English, required.
- Knowledge of electronic charting, preferred.
Education:
- One or more of the following is required upon hire:
- Current California Certified Nurse Assistant Certification, or

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the department Technical Specialist or Laboratory Operations Manager, this position is accountable to prepare surgical and autopsy specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. The incumbent in this position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of TCMC and must demonstrate a commitment to quality service to patients, physicians, and co-workers.

- Assists in teaching Histology principles and techniques to all new Histology assistants including cutting of tissue sections (frozen and paraffin) and routine and special staining.
- Prepares specimens and accompanying paperwork for send out tests.
- Prepares all necessary fixatives, stains, and other solutions and ensures a supply of working materials is maintained.
- Responsible for equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and training.
- Aids Histology Laboratory Assistants with special problems and assumes duties designated to Histology Laboratory Assistants as necessary. Assists in teaching histology principles and techniques to all new Histology Laboratory Assistants including cutting of tissue sections (frozen and paraffin) and routine and special staining.
- Responsible for all equipment, knowledgeable in all aspects of their operation, responsible for their maintenance and teaching correct use to all Laboratory personnel.
- Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.

This position reports directly to the Patient Accounting Supervisor and is responsible for working to resolve pre-billing edits which prevent clean claim submission. This position will work to identify root cause and work closely with Management across multiple departments to mitigate reoccurrence.

- Pre-Billing
- Work all encounters hitting an APC/OCE edit daily by performing the necessary research, applying the correct modifier, adding/removing a charge if necessary and/or following-up with the department for assistance if required.
- Review accounts pending Modifier review by accessing Craneware and determining the necessity of the requested modifier and/or review the exception to determine if a charge could possibly be missing creating the issue.
- Review “LWOT” encounters in Cerner to determine if the patient was seen by a Physician’s Assistant and/or Physician while in Triage to determine the appropriateness of billing the encounter.
- Research MUE edits to determine if the code hitting the edit is packaged with a maximum quantity allowed, crediting any overage.
- Retrieve and email all encounters requiring review by Key Healthcare for OPOBS charging daily.
- Retrieve Missing ED Charge report monthly and determine if there is a missing emergency room charge and/or a missing procedure code. Work with KHC and/or HIM to determine next steps.
- Re-abstract encounters daily that have been placed on hold to ensure the appropriate APC/DRG/APR-DRG is reflected on the encounter.
- Identify encounters in which Invega is administered and coordinate charging with the Pharmacy prior to the bill dropping.
- Updating/Reabstracting encounters to provide Self-pay rates as needed.
- Other assigned duties pertaining to pre-billing edits, charge capture and AR as required.
- Work closely with IT to ensure 3M updates are current and factors correct.
- Cross Function
- Works in collaboration with the collectors and/or billers to review any encounters with an edit/denial that may have an issue outlined above.
- May assist in patient calls as well as place follow-up calls to insurance carriers.

Position Summary:
An Orthopedic Specialist of North County Phone Operator/Scheduler is a motivated, professional and friendly individual who can effectively triage incoming phone calls and messages and directs all calls and messages appropriately. Phone Operator/Scheduler is responsible for providing all customers with a positive first impression of Orthopedic Specialists of North County. An OSNC Phone Operator/Scheduler will be responsible for triaging and scheduling new and existing patient appointments, registration of any new patient wishing to schedule an appointment, mailing of New Patient Paperwork as needed, monitor assigned provider schedules for accuracy, and act as a patient liaison. OSNC Phone Operator/Scheduler is to report directly to the Scheduling Supervisor. This position will work with patients, all internal departments to include, operations department, clinical department, business office, MRI department, physical therapy to accurately prepare patients for their office visit. The Phone Operator/Scheduler will ensure that patient satisfaction goals are met or exceeded.

- Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
- Triaging phone calls
- Successfully determine if patient phone call requires immediate attention by another department or supervisor
- Appropriately screen calls to ensure that they are routed to correct department
- Registration/Scheduling
- Accurately registers patient and/or verifies patient demographic information into practice management system
- Registers patient into patient portal and sends forms via portal or snail mails paperwork for those without internet access
- Schedules patient appointments for appropriate physician in correct time allocation and correct office (Carlsbad vs Oceanside)
- Responsible for monitoring assigned providers’ schedules to ensure scheduling is accurate and/or provider has full schedule, to be monitored at least 3 days out.
- Pulls new referrals from ‘Referral Pool’ in EHR system during down time on the phone
- Contacts patients who No-Show and offer to reschedule missed appointment
- Works dashboard at the beginning of every morning shift to ensure those patients who have cancelled their appointment via the service are cancelled from the schedule
- Works wait list from the dashboard

- May work at front desk checking in patients as needed per office volume

- May assist with patient form completion in office
- Practice Requirements
- Ensures patient confidentiality is always protected, both audible and visual
- HIPPA Notice of Privacy Practice is on display and given to all new patients and then every three years
- Ensures compliance with all medical practice regulations, such as, but not limited to HIPAA and OSHA
- May assist where any OSNC supervisor feels appropriate to best suit needs of OSNC
- Demonstrates flexibility in schedules and assignments in order to meet the needs of the clinic.
- Additional duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare, orthopedic specialty preferred
- Strong background in customer service
- Competencies in the areas of leadership, teamwork and cooperation
- Strong ethics and high level of personal and professional integrity
- An effective communicator at all levels in the organization with strong oral, written and persuasive skills
- Attendance will be exceptional and punctual as to not affect your immediate team members
Education:
- High school diploma or GED, required.

These services will be provided in settings across the entire continuum of care including: inpatient acute care, inpatient acute rehabilitation, and outpatient services. Adheres to professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined by department expectations and professional organizations. Maintains productivity, weekend and holiday requirements as specified. Ongoing professional development, and continuing education to promote clinical excellence and evidence based practice. Assists patients in reaching their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.

Qualifications:
- 1 - 3 years’ experience as a Physical Therapist, preferred.
- Competent in provision of Physical Therapy modalities, interventions, and procedures, required.
- Knowledge and proficiency of standard office equipment (i.e., fax, photocopier), personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, internet), required.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, required.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, required.
- Strong Customer Service skills, required.
Education:
- Graduate of an approved professional school or graduate of an accredited college or university with a degree in Physical Therapy, required.
Licenses:
- Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Physical Therapy Board of California, required.
Certifications:
- Current BLS certification, required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.
