  • Overview

    Position Summary:  

    Performs all the duties of Medical Technologist.  Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge and expertise in their assigned department. Must demonstrate an ability to work with little or no supervision, and a willingness to assume such responsibilities as assigned by the Laboratory Operations Manager. 

    May assume the duties of the section Technical Specialist/Operations Manager in his/her absence.


    Major Position Responsibilities:

    • Performs all the duties of a Medical Technologist.
    • Maintain quality control records.

    Assists the Lab Operations Manager with the following:

    • Research and development
    • Trouble shoots instrument problems and makes corrections.
    • Orientation and training of new personnel
    • Alerts Operations Manager of any quality control problems and assists in their documentation and solution
    • Writes new procedures and revises current procedures 
    • Ensures regulatory requirements are met in the Department
    • Participates in appropriate continuing education programs
    • Responsible for more complex maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
    • Performs addition duties as may be assigned by the Operations Manager.

    Safety and Infection Control Responsibilities

    Responsible to maintain a safe and clean work environment, including unit based specific safety and infection control requirements.



    • Minimum of two years recent experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in their area of expertise.
    • Excellent judgment and communication skills to the job.


    • Meets education requirements for CLS licensure. 


    • Valid California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist required
