Performs professional functions relating to providing appropriate drug information participating in all clinical programs, dispensing, and compounding of drugs.  Has responsibility for drug control within the pharmacy and distribution throughout the hospital. Provide advice and consultation to pharmacy leaders regarding informatics-related topics, participate in pharmacy-led improvement projects, and ensure that drug-related clinical guidelines are reflected in the IT systems. - Responsible for taking a lead role in the design and optimization of drug-related clinical decision support including tools in our IT systems as well as tools provided by our content vendors, will develop and maintain the means to assess the ongoing effectiveness of those tools, and design medication groupers and other content that requires pharmaceutical expertise. - Works with Physician, Nursing and Quality Committees to improve efficiency of the medication process and to ensure that quality measures are met. - Maintains quality assurance, system integrity, and customer satisfaction for assigned technology or automation including but not limited to automated dispensing cabinet, IV workflow system, IV pumps, electronic health record, inventory management hardware/software, and temperature monitoring system. - Responsible for accurate billing for medications. - Provides reports and analytical recommendations that align clinical areas and enable the organization to achieve strategic initiatives. - Compiles, analyzes, and organizes data to best provide information to the intended audience. - Utilizes technology appropriately for the purpose of providing safe, accurate, cost effective comprehensive drug therapy. - Ensures that all changes to applications and technologies are made using existing change management methodologies to protect system performance, availability, and integrity. - Coordinates and provides educational in-services and training of designated users in system functions and operations in order to maximize effectiveness. - Provides ongoing review and assessment of user training needs and performs or arranges training as required. In order to achieve our mission, we see, hear and listen to our front line healthcare workers, employees, medical staff and all community stakeholders in order to understand and meet our community’s needs.   Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director or Manager, the Coder 3  is responsible for coding all diagnoses and procedures using current ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding systems in compliance with Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS) guidelines, ICD-10-CM coding conventions, federal and state regulations.  The hospital services that are coded in this position may include acute inpatient (including Obstetric and Newborn), Physical Rehabilitation, Behavioral Health, Same Day Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Emergency Department records and Outpatient Ancillary.  The Coder 3 is also responsible for abstracting the required data elements for accurate data collection, reporting, and billing.     Major Position Responsibilities: The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner. Responsible for the review and comprehension of current information regarding coding and compliance issues. - Performs other related duties or projects as requested by Management. Generate reports on findings from EOC rounds and ensure that deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner. - Ensure that the organization conforms to all federal, state, county and municipal laws, codes and ordinances pertaining to the environment of care. - Perform regularly scheduled EOC rounds to identify any non-compliant EOC and safety items. Develop action plans to resolve and/or mitigate the safety risk. Work with hospital staff to resolve identified deficiencies. Responsible for ensuring disaster supplies are stocked, unexpired and replenished as necessary. - Manage the fire and life safety testing in coordination with the facilities department as required by CMS, Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies. Ensure all tests are done on time and all required tests are performed. - Serve as Chairperson for EOC related committee meetings.
