In order to achieve our mission, we see, hear and listen to our front line healthcare workers, employees, medical staff and all community stakeholders in order to understand and meet our community’s needs.   Position Summary: Manages the nutritional care of infant, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients through assessment of nutritional status, formulation, implementation and monitoring of care plans following appropriate policy/procedure.  Utilizes unique knowledge of nutrition, interprets and communicates nutrition care principles to clients and patients.  Collaborates with other professionals and personnel in the integration and delivery of care.   Major Position Responsibilities: The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner. The characteristics of the position and standards of performance may be changed by TCMC with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization. - Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements. - Interviews patients for nutritional assessment and creates goal directed nutritional plan of care. - Coordinates plan of care with other members providing care to patient to provide team directed approach. - Provides education appropriate to patient nutritional needs.   Qualifications: - Able to perform numerical calculations for nutritional values, enteral feedings, modified diets and parenteral nutrition, required.  - Knowledge of chemistry, caloric values, and physical properties of foods, as well as understanding the medical basis for dietetic restrictions, required. - Able to communicate ideas and diet therapy instructions to patients and families, required. Licenses: - Valid CA drivers’ license required, Auto Insurance required (for Home Care position only). - Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, required.  Certification: - Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, required - CCS paneling for adolescents, pediatrics, and/or NICU required (or obtained within one year of hire) for dietitians providing cared for the CCS patient in the NICU or adolescent CCS patient. The clinical educator works collaboratively with the management team to maximize patient outcomes and clinical practice. This individual functions as an educator, leader, expert practitioner, mentor and consultant for nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and willingness to learn other software packages as needed, required. Education: - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, required.   - Master’s Degree in a related field, preferred.  - A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered. Licenses: - Current California Nursing License, required Certifications: - Current BLS required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider. - Current ACLS, required (ED, ICU & Surgical services OR/PACU/PREOP only); American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.. - Board certification, preferred (ED & ICU only). - CNOR, required (Surgery only). - CPAN, required within 6 months (PACU only). If CCRN upon hire or transfer, CPAN required within 6 months. - NVCI within 90 days of hire or transfer, required (ED, BHU & OP only). - PALS within 90 days of hire or transfer, required (ED only). Qualifications: - Must be capable of applying excellent judgment and communication skills to the job. Education:  - Meets education requirements for CLS licensure. The characteristics of the position and standards of performance may be changed by TCMC with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization. - Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements. - Coordinates all Point of Care activities within the Tri-City HealthCare District (includes all in house units, Home Health, and outreach clinics).  - Ensures that the POC program is in compliance with all accrediting and regulatory agency standards. - Provides on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation to the clinical care areas with POC devices or tests; maintains effective communication with staff, co-workers, physicians, and other hospital personnel, outside organizations or others who provide or receive laboratory services. - Assists laboratory leadership in the selection of the test methodology that is appropriate for the clinical use of the test results. - Purchases or directs purchase of laboratory equipment and supplies; evaluates and verifies new instrumentation and procedures; ensures completion of department instrumentation maintenance and service procedures; writes and updates technical procedures and ensures that all technical procedures are reviewed in accordance to accrediting agency guidelines; monitors department inventory appropriately. - Appropriately coordinates proficiency testing in accordance with the department test menu and trained personnel. - Maintains an appropriate laboratory quality assurance program including the development of department quality performance indicators and quality control procedures, for the entire testing process (pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic). - Appropriately resolves technical problems and ensures that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications; ensures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly. - Maintains and coordinates an appropriate training and competency program in accordance with regulations of all testing personnel. - Manages POC instrument software and middleware and coordinates with laboratory information system personnel. - Acts as Laboratory Safety Officer by coordinating annual safety audit and training, oversees the annual chemical inventory review and maintains current and archived SDS, writes and updates policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory changes. - Performs other duties as assigned.   Qualifications: - Must have a minimum of two years previous experience performing high complexity testing in the subspecialties of hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and chemistry. - Five years of experience with increasing responsibility directly related to clinical laboratory, preferred. - Familiarity with CLIA and CDPH LFS regulations, quality control evaluation including IQCP design and implementation, proficiency testing requirements and safety requirements, preferred. - Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and interface frequently with nursing and laboratory management. - Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments. - Must be capable of applying excellent judgment and communication skills to the job. - Must possess moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word for writing and editing policies and procedures and Microsoft Excel for quality control data analysis and statistical analysis. Experience in invasive CT procedures, preferred. - 1 year hospital based clinical medical experience, preferred. Licenses: - CRT (California Registered Technologist) license, required. - ARRT- CT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) license required within 1 year of hire or initiation of training. Certifications: - Venipuncture certification, required within 6 months of hire. - Current BLS certification, required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.
